Swindon Town will sell out the away end for their opening home game of the season against Cheltenham Town, with all 1,000 tickets - including five wheelchair and personal-assistant seats - sold. The club requested a higher allocation, but the deadline meant no additional tickets could be issued, leaving the away end fully booked.
The match is scheduled for Saturday at the County Ground, where Swindon will look to overturn a long-standing record against the Gloucestershire club. Swindon began the campaign with a goalless draw at Northampton Town, while Cheltenham opened with a 2-1 home victory over Rotherham United. Historically, Swindon have struggled at the County Ground, winning only once away in 2024 and failing to secure a home win since 2012. Since that 1-0 victory, the Robins have recorded three defeats and two draws in five attempts.
Safety concerns will affect the matchday experience. Under-18 supporters will again be barred from sitting in T1 and T2 of the Town End due to potential surges during goal celebrations. Additionally, fans cannot purchase tickets in sections A6U and A6L of the Arkell’s Stand - the areas closest to the away end - because of “safety issues on the segregation line.” A meeting was suggested to address these matters, but no progress has been made.
Swindon’s manager Ian Holloway will be hoping to secure the club’s first win of the season in front of home supporters, ending a winless streak against Cheltenham on their own turf. The side will also face a challenging run with Oldham Athletic and Port Vale looming in the fixture list.
