Cheltenham Town have agreed to sign winger Jake Evans on a season-long loan from Leicester City. The 17-year-old joins Foxes teammate Kirsten Otchere at Whaddon Road after undergoing a medical on Monday morning. Evans, who turns 18 on August 21, will become the Robins' ninth new signing of the summer and their second loanee, after forward Otchere who made his debut as a substitute in Saturday's Carabao Cup first round defeat by Charlton Athletic.

What happened?

Evans will be in contention for Cheltenham's first League Two game of the 2026/27 season, at home to Rotherham United on Saturday (3pm kick-off). The Leicester academy product, who joined them as an Under-nine, signed his first professional contract in October 2025. He had already made four substitute appearances for his parent club, all coming during the second half of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Why it matters for Cheltenham

"Jake has been one of my targets throughout the summer," said Robins manager Steve Cotterill. "He is an exciting player, there was a lot of interest in Jake from League Two and higher up the pyramid and I am delighted to welcome him to the football club. As well as being an exciting player it is also worth remembering that he is a young man learning his trade in the men's game. I look forward to working with him."

What comes next?

Evans added: "I'm over the moon to be here. I have spoken to the gaffer on a few occasions now and I can't help but feel excited and ready to go. I have had a taste of senior football and I just want more, I can't wait to play for the gaffer and the Robins fans, I will give my all for this football club."
